Two non indigenous trees (1 X Scotch Fern and 1 X Norwegian Spruce / Christmas trees) were planted on the property approximately 35-40 years ago. The trees have now grown to 25-30 meters in height. The intention is to remove the trees on the grounds of potential safety reasons and replace them with a single - smaller tree more in keeping with the area (possibly holly).

The trees location are at the side of the property just prior to the railway bridge. The reasons for removal are as follows:

- The trees are not native to the area
- The trees roots area locked into a small side garden by walls on 3 sides (there is nowhere left for the roots to spread
- The trees pose a potential hazard on all sides to A) the gable end of the property (5 meters) B) The railway line (10 meters) C) the railway bridge 10 meters and D) the public highway (5 meters)
- One of the trees has started to bulge the property wall adjoining the public footpath
- The other tree will dislodge a drystone wall allowing stones to fall into the path of passing trains below
- The shallow rooted nature of the trees and the lack of room for root expansion is making the trees increasingly unstable
