Community Champions Awards Scheme

Guidance for preparing an award nomination

The Council is aware of the amazing work members of the public put into making Belper the great place it is.

Belper Town Council runs a civic award scheme to recognise outstanding achievments and contributions to the quality of life in our town.

Therefore, in recognition, of these efforts, the Council accepts nominations from the public for individuals or groups who go the extra mile. The nominations can be submitted by email or by hand to the Clerk of Belper Town Council clerk@belpertowncouncil.gov.uk.

How to Nominate a Candidate

Hard copies of the nomination form are now available from St John’s Chapel or you can download a form here.

The form is intentionally brief, try to be as concise as possible, but if necessary, attach a separate sheet.

The closing date for applications each year is the 31st of January and awards will be presented at the Mayor’s Civic Service in May. The successful nominee and the nominator will be notified and invited to the ceremony, with as many friends and family as they wish to invite along. The ceremony will be a public event and local media will be present.

There are several categories for the nominations. Please don’t get too concerned about the category for which to submit your nomination. Just submit it and the panel who will be assessing the nominations will find the right category for you.

Categories

The categories are:

  • Youth Award
  • Environmental Action Award
