Mat & Briony Williams

Mat & Briony Williams

Fri, 08 Oct 2021 20:00

Mat and Briony (father and daughter) have been performing together regularly for three years. They play a mixture of covers, original material, and old folk songs.

Mat is a long-time performer in and around Belper, sometimes to be seen busking on King St and regularly providing music for pubs, clubs and local drama productions including his part in the World War One centenary productions. His music has been recorded, used for education, film and video and his song 'In one hundred years' has become something of a local anthem, about the Belper soldiers going away to war. He plays a wide variety of instruments, generally being able to get a tune or rhythm out of most objects he picks up.

Briony started singing at a very early age and always encouraged by her dad, has developed into a singer/songwriter in her own right. She appeared on her dad's album 'Full English' as a guest vocalist at the age of fifteen which led to her writing and performing her own album 'Solstice'. She has a pure and clear vocal delivery and writes heartfelt songs about the power of nature and history, which has resulted in her gaining a strong following in the local music scene.

Together Mat and Briony produce a varied repertoire, ranging from sad acapella ballads to foot-tapping, sing-along classics that make the mind race and the heart pound. All you have to do - is listen!
