The History of Silkolene Lubricants of Belper – Derbyshire's own oil company
Cliff Lea
Cliff was formerly employed in the oil industry. His talk will cover the early history and later development of Dalton & Co Ltd, producers of Silkolene Lubricants. He'll explain how the company started and the sites on which it developed, from their early production of animal medicines to their later supply of synthetic oils for the jet age. It will include a look at the war years, their production of Vaseline and their work with Rolls Royce.

Visit members of the ArtStand Group of artists and makers at our Art and Crafts Exhibition and Sale of work at Strutts Community Centre, Belper, DE56 1UU on Saturday 15th April 2023 from 10.00 am to 5.00 pm. Original and unique pieces of work from this talented group.
The ArtStand Group was formed in 2019 to celebrate the fantastic talents of artists and makers in the local area of the Derwent Valley. This is our second annual sale at the excellent Strutts Community Centre.
Strutts Centre has free parking and good disabled access.
Free Admission and light refreshments available.
