Remembering the Fallen

Belper is incredibly proud and thankful to the men who left this beautiful place and didn’t return.

Each year the people of the town gather at the Belper Cenotaph in the Memorial Gardens, and at the War Memorial at Milford, to remember these brave souls, and to give thanks for their sacrifice.

A service is held on Remembrance Sunday and on Armistice Day when this does not coincide with the national commemorations. Following the Service of Remembrance, a parade leads the attendees to St Peter’s Church where an interdenominational service is held before parading back to the Memorial Gardens for a formal march past and salute.

Details of this year’s Service of Remembrance can be found here.

Belper Town Council works closely with the Royal British Legion and the town’s clergy to ensure that these Acts of Remembrance are inclusive and appropriate.
